Marie Meteer

Principal Research ScientistPryonDr. Marie Meteer is Director of Applications Research at Pryon, a 7-year old AI startup in question answering and knowledge management for Enterprise customers. Her group is responsible for bringing language-based features from research to production.
She began her career at BBN Technologies, where she rose from research scientist to VP of Commercial Speech Solutions. She has consulted in industries ranging from mobile application development to call center analytics and was a co-founder and Vice President of Speech at EveryZing, a digital media merchandising platform. She was President of the board of AVIOS (Advanced Voice Input/Output Society), which hosted the annual Conversational Interactions conference each year and she was the founder of the Speech Technology Consortium, a nonprofit organization focused on IP and patent related issues. In 2018, she was named a “Speech Luminary” by Speechtech Magazine. Most recently she was an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Brandeis University, where she taught speech and dialog in the Computational Linguistics Master’s Program. She created and led an “Industry Liaison” program to bring students and companies together twice a year for informal networking and then provided support for students’ internship and job searches. |
