Substance Use prevention program manager

Barnstable County Department of Human Services

Kate Lena currently serves as the Substance Use Prevention Program Manager for Barnstable County Department of Human Services on Cape Cod. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from UVM and a Master's in Public Health from Northeastern University. Kate has worked in the substance use and harm reduction field for over fifteen years, and is currently serving as the Co-Chair for the Regional Substance Addiction Council (RSAC) in Barnstable County.

In addition to over a decade of direct service work with people who use drugs, she served as an Americorps volunteer in Boston and with the Peace Corps in Nicaragua. Outside of work, Kate and her partner, Neal, just welcomed a baby girl into their family in November of 2022 so winning the work-life balance is very important!
