Chief of Staff

MA House Committee on Human Resources and Employee Engagement

Erin Walsh is currently the Chief of Staff to Massachusetts House of Representatives Daniel Hunt, a roll in which she has occupied since 2014. In addition to managing several district and committee staff, Erin is the lead on shaping major policy, budget, and communications issues. This current session, she serves on the House Committee on Human Resources and Employee Engagement where she is responsible for leading employee training for each of the 160 House offices, organizing an annual state-wide Student Government Day, and hosting a diverse and robust Legislative Speaker Series Program for more than 300 summer interns.

In her previous role on the House Committee on Federal Stimulus and Census Oversight, which was created both in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and to coordinate with the decennial redistricting process, Erin assisted with reviewing over $110 billion dollars of federal spending that was allocated to Massachusetts. Working directly with House Leadership, members of the Legislature, the Governor's office of Administration and Finance, as well as advocates and organizations across the commonwealth to immediately stabilize MA’s healthcare, housing, and employment sectors, while funding job retention and job growth in the emerging sectors of the economy through the passage of Chapter 102 of the Acts of 2021.

Erin grew up in the diverse urban Boston neighborhoods of South Boston and Dorchester. She matriculated from UMass Amherst, majoring in French and Francophone Studies. Erin is the oldest of three and some of her fondest memories are of spending her summers deep in the woods of Hunter’s Point, Quebec, where she would fish, hunt, and trap on her family’s native Algonquin claims as a member of the Wolf Lake First Nation. She has served on several non-profit boards and currently serves in a leadership role on the John F. Kennedy Library’s New Frontier Network.
