Director of EngineeringWaterandsewerDarleen Buttrick is the Director of Engineering and Capital Projects for the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission, an independent public water utility serving 250,000 people in the Lower Pioneer Valley.
Darleen joined the Commission in 2021 and is the first woman to hold a leadership position within the Commission’s Engineering Department. As Director of Engineering and Capital Projects she is responsible for managing a capital project portfolio of over $550 million, overseeing major water and wastewater infrastructure construction projects, and managing day to day engineering operations. Prior to joining the Commission in 2021 Darleen worked at the Westfield-based engineering firm, Tighe & Bond, where she began her career as a project engineer and was eventually promoted to Vice President. Darleen holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bucknell University and a master’s degree in environmental engineering with a focus on drinking water from UMass Amherst. Darleen is a mom of three daughters, a Girl Scout Troop leader, avid baker, and weather enthusiast. |
