Bonnie Michelman has extensive leadership and security management experience across diverse industries and national boundaries. Currently she is the Executive Director of Police, Security and Outside Services at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Mass General Brigham, MGH’s parent organization. Her security operations protect the patients, visitors, staff and assets of 13 hospitals and hundreds of offsite facilities including a licensed Police Department. Under Bonnie’s direction, MGH won the Lindberg Bell Award for the nation’s finest healthcare security program in 1999, 2007, and 2018. Bonnie’s list of industry leadership roles is lengthy. • ISMA (International Security Management Assoc.): President 2016-2017; External Relations Committee Chair 2007-2009, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee member 2017-present • ASIS International (Advancing Security Worldwide): International President 2001-2002; Foundation President 2003-2004; other leadership positions 1988-present • IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety): President 2008-2009 and 1995-1996; President of IAHSS Foundation 2019-present; other leadership positions 1983-present • Anti-Defamation League: New England Regional Board of Directors 2010-present; • IFPO (International Foundation for Protection Officers): Board member, 2020-present • Homeland Security Advisory Council: Board Member 2010-2016; Faith-based Advisory Committee Chair 2011-2016. Bonnie’s credentials include 25 years as an Instructor at Northeastern University’s College of Criminal Justice in the graduate and undergraduate programs. She consults and lectures in the areas of healthcare security, workplace violence, hate crimes, active shooter training, domestic violence, risk assessment/management, disaster planning, leadership, change management, and strategic business planning and communications. |
